Mind expanding substances are used by many people to escape and break the frameworks they live in in order to discover a wider world in their minds. Spiritually, these substances can allow seekers to discover the depth of their consciousness, and expand their understanding of themselves and the world. Many studies today seek to uncover whether and how drugs were used in the Jewish tradition. Let's go on a journey to learn about mystical Jewish mind expanders!
Every religion has its own set of practices. Having a spiritual framework allows us to connect to a wider world, with other people, with the universe, and with God. The sense of spiritual connection gives meaning and direction to life.
For many of us, the religious frameworks we grew up with have departed from the source of authentic spirituality, as well as the practices that we lived as Earth-dwelling humans for thousands of years. In rediscovering ancient practices, we can rediscover our direct connection with the Divine and with Nature.

Rabbi Yerach:
Rabbi Yerach B. Meiersdorf is the rabbi of the MAROM Masorti/Conservative young adult movement worldwide. Born to American parents who made Aliyah (moved to Israel), he grew up in a National-Orthodox family in Jerusalem's Har Nof neighborhood. Rabbi Meiersdorf and his wife Nava currently live in Jerusalem.
Together, the couple founded a spiritual Masorti congregation for young adults. Rabbi Yerach is a Jewish educator and spiritual teacher who recently published a book on spiritual education.
